In 2004, Chesterfield County residents voted in favor of a bond issuance to build a new library in the Courthouse Road area. A site was selected thanks to a generous donation from Mr. Jim Craze. Ground was broken for the new library on November 14, 2013. The North Courthouse Road Library is a 20,000 square foot state-of-the-art library designed for LEED (Leadership in Energy and and Environmental Design) certification. Site and building features include a system for recycling rainwater, protection of existing wetlands, rapidly renewable bamboo panels at book stacks and more. Library service features include a multi-function flexible meeting room, a collaborative working space for business owners, and an outdoor reading veranda.
