NEW kindergartners and pre-kindergartners are invited to practice getting on and off a real school bus and learn about bus safety.
To help kids (and parents) prepare for that inaugural school bus ride, Chesterfield Public Library invites you to My First School Bus. This annual program gives pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students a chance to practice getting on and off a real school bus while learning about school bus safety with Chesterfield County Public Schools and Chesterfield County Police Department.
Each session will have a bus with accessibility equipment.
All rising pre-K and Kindergarten students are welcome to participate in the information session portion of the program. Only rising CCPS students will be allowed to board the bus. Children in other school systems may participate in the presentation part of the program, but may not board the school bus.
Please register only the children who will be attending.
All nine open Chesterfield Public Library locations will host My First School Bus sessions between July 14 and July 25. Sessions are offered on weekday mornings and evenings to accommodate a variety of schedules. View the full list of upcoming My First School Bus sessions to find a time and locations that works for your family.
Please note: LaPrade Library is closed for renovations and will not host My First School Bus.

Ettrick-Matoaca Library serves the communities of Matoaca and Ettrick. It is situated on the outskirts of Virginia State University's Randolph Farm just down the road from the bustling Village of Ettrick. In 2013, the Ettrick-Matoaca Library was completely renovated as a better, brighter, more functional public space. It has one of several reading gardens located at libraries. Thanks to a gift from a local organization, the Ettrick-Matoaca Library is home to a makerspace that includes a 3-D printer, two sewing machines and raised garden beds for a community garden.
